Happy Christmas!

Christmas in London |
We've been trying to make the best of the Christmas holiday even though we can't be home with family and friends. We've decorated our little apartment with lights and a small tree, and we've also been out to see some Christmas lights. Of course we had to check out the Christmas Shop at Harrods as soon as they put it up too!
Overall, it's been quiet and very pleasant here the past few days. The weather has been mild in the low 50's, and except for the rain yesterday, it has been clear. Michael is off until after the new year, so he's been enjoying the time to work on some personal projects. We've both been catching up on our reading a little bit. I'm reading The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand and Michael is reading 1984 by George Orwell. We're both enjoying the novels, and we plan to switch as soon as we've finished reading our current selections - although Michael will probably finish 1984 well before I can get through my book. I love Ayn Rand but her books are lengthy, so takes me a while to get through them. I am definately not complaining, though. I loved Atlas Shrugged - all 1000+ pages of it!
Tonight for dinner we made turkey breast, mashed potatoes, Stove Top stuffing (my favorite!), green beans, homemade rolls, and Michael's homemade apple pie. It was fabulous! Well, I assume the pie will be great; we've both been too stuffed to have any of it yet. We did run down the street a little while ago to pick up some vanilla ice cream, though, so now we're all set! You can see some pictures of our Christmas dinner here.
I know I still have things to blog about, and I'm hoping to catch up this week. I just wanted to let you all know that, even though we didn't send out Christmas cards this year, we are still thinking about all of our family and friends this holiday season.
Happy Christmas!

I had to read 1984 in the first computer programming class I took (in 1983). Might seem like an odd thing to have to do in your first programming class but we had an instructor who didn't do things traditionally.
From what I remember of the book, many of the technological things that were talked about are now readily available, but were still in the fiction realm. At the time it was harder to see how some of his story could ever become reality. Now...
Anyway, I'm glad you both now have a few days together, off from work and just relaxing.
Hope to see ya'll (or in Southeast Missouri speak, you'uns) soon. Merry Christmas.
Uncle Jeff
Hi Guys,
I love how positive you are. It helps me when I begin to feel sorry for myself. I'm glad that you had a good Christmas, we had one as well. You know how it is when you have to travel so much (only two hours), you love the time with family, but are happy to be home. This Christmas was a little different because Sarah does not live with us. Life moves on whether you like it or not. I wish she could stay little, but am happy with the woman (not adult yet) she has become.
I, too, have a few days off and am happy teachers get this time off each year. Can you believe I have not missed one day the entire semester! What a difference a year makes. Now if I can go the next semester without missing a sick day and I will have three personal days next year (for Hawaii).
Jeff had to beat me with the response.
Love you guys (Little Adults) more than you know.
Chell
I'll let you know how we enjoy the book. You're right, Jeff, now it's probably all technology that's easily available to us. Michael and I were laughing about a passage the other day from an Asimov short story he had read. It was talking about "thousands" of electrons concerned in some type of computer process. Of course, we're thinking, "Just thousands? Are you kidding?" It's amazing how much and how quickly our capability for creating and understanding technology grows.
Thanks for the comments Chell and Jeff! I'm glad that you all are enjoying the blog and our stories. I'm glad that you had a good Christmas. I know it's weird when things change from year to year, but I think it's always best to look on the bright side - what's the use in doing anything else really right?
Anyway, love you both. Thanks for reading!
I'm glad that you had a wonderful Christmas even though you weren't home with the family. At least you two were together.
Did you ever get my Christmas card? I am really aggravated about this. I mailed it in November you should have received it a long time ago.
Owen had a terrific Christmas. He was really into it this year. We only had one major problem with the Christmas tree when he decided he would whack the ornaments with his golf club. Needless to say he wasn't allowed to used the golf club any more while the tree was up. Ha.
I'm glad you are enjoying the books you are reading. I had to read 1984 for an English class. I really hated the book. It just wasn't something that interested me then.
Take care. Have a Happy new Year. Do you have plans for ringing in the New Year? Tabitha, Kevin and Jackson are going to come over and play games. It should be fun.
Love you lots,
Baby D.
HEY GUYS, I'm late as usual reading the blogs. Boy that pie looked yummy! I'm glad the two of you were together,(just wish you were here)Love you both lots Mom Sharon
Hey Baby D! We never did get the card - the mail isn't always that reliable here we've learned. I hope you at least got some pictures or video of Owen practicing his golf swing before you took his clubs away!
Michael finished 1984 yesterday, and I'm going to start it as soon as I finish the Nora Roberts book I'm in the middle of. He won't discuss it with me until I read it, so I don't really know yet if he liked it or not. I'll make sure to fill everyone in once I read it!
Hope you had lots of fun over the holidays! Love you!
Thanks for the comment, Mom. I'm glad that you finally got caught up on the blog. I guess it's time to post some more - I've been doing too many other things lately.
The apple pie was yummy, but we didn't end up having any until the day after Christmas because we were both too full from dinner! :-)
If you're good, or promise to visit us in Austin or something, maybe you can sweet talk Michael into making a pie for you when we get back to the States!
